Two coats of PT-40 Resin on top of 3/4 ounce glass. To smooth out the surface, I scrape it with a single edge razor blade. This makes less dust as the shavings are easier to clean up. I'll probably coat the deck one more time. Notice the new engine hatch. I'm much happier with the plank layout. It matches the deck planking. I had to do it wrong to see it. Hatch latches are yet to be installed. 3/4 ounce Glass set into PT40 Laminating Epoxy. 1st Resin was poured onto the deck. Spread out with an old credit card. This filled the void between planks. It also keep the glass from sliding & moving as I laid it out. Then more resin was applied on top to completely fill the weave of the glass. Hatch- Well I'm sorry to say I just not happy with the way it turned out. I could have done it better and I will. Toooo bad, it fits well, just looks bad. Moving along with the build,
I epoxied the wood transom on. The wood veneer was a light color, I used Dumas water based stain in an effort to match the rest of the mahogany. I forgot how "orange" the stain is. Anyway it's on now. Engine Hatch- Planked and fiberglassed. 3/4 ounce cloth, PT40 epoxy resin. Rub rails- hide the deck to hull seam. I used left over Dumas planking. Soaked and steamed to fit. Much sanding was needed to make "fair"and smooth . Fiberglassing the deck is the next job. stay tuned.
